E-government Unit / State Services Commission
The State Services Commission required a system to maintain an all-of-government Directory for central and local government organisations.
This directory:
- provides a detailed picture of the structure of central Government departments and organisations
- enables people to find out exactly where their requests for information should be made.
The challenge was to provide a manageable system where government organisations could maintain their own data in a timely way, and where that data could be made readily accessible to the public.
Catalyst evaluated several open source products, choosing one that most closely matched the functional and technology standards required. Using this approach, we implemented a functionally rich application in a fraction of the time it would have taken to develop from scratch.
The sourcing of existing open source applications and technologies is an approach Catalyst use frequently to significantly reduce timeframes, cost and risk for our clients.
