Catalyst has successfully delivered a major overhaul of Fairfax’s award-winning stuff.co.nz website. For regular visitors, the fresh new visual design is the most obvious change.
Behind the scenes, however, the Catalyst team has completely re-engineered the online publishing platform for Fairfax.
"Using the open source Mason/Perl framework enabled us to deliver the site changes within a very tight deadline while significantly enhancing performance and compliance with modern web standards such as cascading style sheets." says Catalyst Director Donald Christie.
The Mason/Perl framework, which the replaces the front-end templating of Stuff’s Vignette CMS, is the engine behind world-leading sites like Amazon and del.icio.us.
Catalyst has had considerable success with Mason/Perl for large-scale web developments. Using a mainstream open source approach provides Fairfax with a flexible, sustainable platform for such a flagship site.
