DevOps Engineer - New Zealand - Wellington

Catalyst IT is part of a global team of skilled open source technologists. We specialise in developing, designing and supporting enterprise grade systems using open source technologies.

One of our core teams here at Catalyst specialise in the design, development and hosting of Open Knowledge platforms including LMS and ePortfolio systems. Catalyst are one of Moodle's longest standing partners, co-founders of Totara, and core developers of Mahara. We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join this team.

About the Role

As well as direct work for customers building and customising sites, your role will be to assist us to automate large aspects of that work: building of sites, testing, security updates and feature upgrades. You will ideally be either a developer with strong Linux systems administration skills, or a systems administrator that would be keen to get involved in writing PHP. You will have strong scripting ability in your chosen language and good knowledge of IT security practices.

You’ll need to be comfortable being client facing, so top notch communication skills are key.

Extra things that we would love to see on your CV are:

  • Demonstrable experience with continuous deployment practices
  • Solid systems performance debug/investigation skills
  • Previous development with Moodle/Totara LMS
  • Experience with any of: Python, PHP, Ansible, Puppet, Docker, Git, Nginx, Apache, HAProxy, Postgres, Redis, Memcached, Go, Bash
