Junior PHP Developer - New Zealand - Wellington

Catalyst IT is part of a global team of skilled open source technologists. We specialise in developing, designing and supporting enterprise grade systems using open source technologies.

We are looking for a junior developer to join our growing Open Knowledge team. In this position you will be working in the long-established eLearning team at Catalyst that supports a range of clients in New Zealand and around the world. You will be part of a talented technical team and be given opportunities to cultivate your skills, grow your technical ability and develop your business acumen.

For this role you will need some experience coding scripted languages (such as PHP, Perl, Python or Ruby) and proficiency in debugging HTML, CSS and Javascript. As you’ll be on the front line working with clients, you will need excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

It would be a definite advantage if you have experience coding PHP, are familiar with the use of Git for distributed development and the use of Linux command line administration. It would also help if you have experience working with databases (PostgreSQL in particular) and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as general software engineering skills.
