“Double X” Robotics team get Energy Award at national robotics competition

The “Double X” Robotics team from Wellington East Girls College were presented with the “Energy Award” at the three day VEX National Robotics Competition, held in Auckland from 28 February to 2 March 2014.

52 teams from around NZ competed, with WEGC being one of only three all girls teams present.

The Energy Award was for their dedication and positive energy through some challenging times. The girls say they had a fantastic weekend competing, describing it as a crash course in robotics building, design and programming.

The team has come back very excited about what they have learnt to the next level and are aiming to compete at a much higher level next year.

A thank you video from the WEGC robotics team Double-X to all our sponsors that helped us get to NZ VEX nationals 2014.

They were WEGC Parent Association; Catalyst IT; Fronde Systems Group; Port Nicholson Rotary; Grant Lumsden & Rachel Helson (WEGC Alumni); and Zest Food Tours
