Every year, Callaghan Innovation offers a Research and Development (R&D) Experience Grant to help students get paid work relevant to their course of study over the summer break, and to assist New Zealand companies in their R&D efforts. We are excited to be a recipient of one of these grants for our Mahara team this year.
Offering opportunities for technologists-in-training is an important part of our work. Our interns don't do busywork or fetch coffee - they get stuck in and make valuable contributions to open source projects. Very often, our interns carry on in permanent roles with us once they finish studying.
This internship project will be focused on how to track changes to a Mahara ePortfolio. An interactive timeline is to be created that allows viewers to look back at the state of their portfolio weeks or months before and therefore see changes over time. It would suit someone who knows their way around PHP and jQuery. Since it is an R&D project, research into the best possible solution plays an important role including UX of the solution.

We are also looking for a student interested in information security for the summer.
