isite's fast and seamless cloud migration to CatalystOne

isite partnered with Catalyst to migrate its vast collection of travel resources to a secure, modern and sovereign cloud solution in just nine working days.

Background

isite New Zealand (isite) is Aotearoa New Zealand's official visitor information network. With over 50 centres across the country, it helps visitors get the most out of their stay by providing easy access to suggestions from locals on where to stay, where to eat, and what to explore. isite also plays a vital role in boosting local economies and enhancing visitor experiences across the country. 

Opportunity

In June 2025, with just a few weeks' notice, isite’s web hosting provider announced it would discontinue its hosting and support services by the end of the month. To ensure the public still had access to its collection of resources, isite urgently sought a trusted provider for its website built on Silverstripe(external link) before the end of the month. 

isite consulted Tourism New Zealand’s technical team for support in finding a new hosting provider, and based on their recommendation, partnered with Tourism NZ’s provider(external link), Catalyst.

Solution

Catalyst needed to lift isite‘s entire catalogue of content and shift it onto solid foundations without disrupting access from the public. The project began by obtaining the code, assets, and database from the previous hosting provider to ensure nothing was lost in the move to Catalyst. Catalyst Silverstripe experts then set up new hosting nodes in CatalystOne on Catalyst Cloud to begin the migration.

The site was migrated successfully in just nine business days before the previous hosting provider discontinued its services. This ensured isite could still carry on business as usual.
