We are incredibly pleased to to share, that Catalyst’s Junior Koha developer, Aleisha Amohia is a finalist in the "Open Source Contributor" category for the NZ Open Source Awards. The awards recognise and promote the contributions of New Zealanders, directly to free and open source projects, or the promotion of free and open source philosophy.
Aleisha may be a “junior” developer, however she’s the third most prolific developer for the most recent release of Koha Library Management System for which she wrote 113 patches (code changes). Overall she is the 35th most prolific developer of Koha, out of 300+ contributors. Considering how many vendors in the world have built full-time businesses around Koha since the first release in 2000, we are more than impressed.
Catalyst first met Aleisha in the summer of 2014 as a participant in the annual two week Catalyst Academy. Aleisha learned about a broad range of technologies, and chose to work on Koha during the academy "project week". Aleisha has supported other young technologists by continuing to participate in the Academy as a staff member and project leader.
Aleisha works for Catalyst part time alongside studying for her Computer Science degree at Victoria University.
Best of luck for the awards Aleisha!
